Students

At Avonbourne you will undertake a stable careers programme provided through a variety of delivery. By way of the tutor time programme, assemblies, workshops, presentations, guest speakers, challenges & competitions, enterprising initiatives, work place visits, work experience and careers fairs, you will develop knowledge and understanding of opportunities available post 16 and 18 as well as timely labour market information in order to help you make informed decisions about your future.

By the end of year 11 you will also have attended a careers guidance appointment with a level 6 qualified careers adviser and further opportunities for appointments are made available should you progress to our sixth form. The careers hub is open for students to access and provides a wide range of resources including current college, sixth form and university prospectus. Students can also request an appointment at any time by contacting hilary.pether@avonbourneacademy.org.uk .

Careers Fair in Collaboration with MYTIME

This term we worked in collaboration with MYTIME to host our first ever young carers careers fair. We welcomed young carers from across the country to our careers convention and welcomed employers and local colleges and universities to exhibit. Students gained valuable information about prospective career paths, options and some freebies of sweets and drinks.

Manufacturing Visit

Beagle Aircraft welcomed some of our year 10 students to have an access all areas tour showing how their manufacturing business works from start to finish. We were shown around the factory and given an insight into the different roles .

Our next manufacturing tour will be in the summer to Eco Sustainable Solutions.
